Dear PS 251Q Family,
Welcome to our PS 251Q website! PS 251Q is a small school community with 350 students. At PS 251Q, we educate students knowing that they are Learners Today, Leaders Tomorrow. Our goal is to empower students to facilitate and take ownership of their own learning so that they can become critical thinkers and problem solvers as they move along their educational career.
At PS 251Q, we have high standards and expectations for our students as we know that all children can learn given the right supports and learning opportunities. Our vision, as a community, is to intellectually engage all of our students in tasks that are cognitively challenging and engaging. We know that education is not a one size fits all model. Based on this knowledge, our teachers adjust their instruction and tasks to suit the needs of our students while maintaining high expectations for all learners.
Our school community has a Student Council, where students are able to have a voice in what our community needs to thrive. We have clubs every Friday where students are given a choice to participate in activities that interest them. Some of our clubs include: coding, photography, athletics, art, and games. We celebrate students and classes that exhibit charter traits that are highlighted each month.
We have PTA meetings every third Wednesday of the month from 6:45pm-8:00pm and SLT meetings every second Tuesday of the month from 5:00pm-7:00pm. Teachers conduct parent workshops the last Tuesday of each month from 2:30pm-3:00pm. Parents are always welcome to join and support as we partner in the work.
Thank you for entrusting us with the care and education of your children. We know that preparation is the key factor in success. Our goal is to ensure that every student at PS 251Q is prepared for college and a fulfilling and productive career. We expect that once our students graduate, they are prepared to contribute all of their knowledge, talents, and abilities to the world for years to come.
Warmly,
Relda Barry-Grant
Principal
